Denny's Free Grand Slam Breakfast

Did you see the Super Bowl commercial announcing Denny's Free Grand Slam Breakfast?
We did and decided to check it out. I went to Denny's website and sure enough they were offering a free Grand Slam Breakfast to anyone who came in on February 3rd from 6am until 2pm.

That sounded too good to pass up so this morning the Island King, the Oldest Island Boy and I headed for Dennys. We didn't want to go too early thinking they would be slammed so we waited until about 10:30 before going over there.

And they were still slammed LOL There was a huge line of people out front. This picture doesn't begin to show just how many people were there.

We put our names on the list and then stood back to wait.

We waited about 45 minutes and that was probably some of the most interesting people watching I've ever done. There were all kinds of people there and some of those folks looked like they really needed a free meal.

Once we were seated it wasn't a long wait at all. Apparently no one was ordering anything but the Grand Slam and the waitresses were just coming by to ask how you wanted your eggs.

And it was GOOD! Really good. We ate until we were stuffed and still had quite a bit to bring home for Island Girl and the Youngest Island Boy - who were home sick.

Our waitress told us that she's worked there for 15 years and this is the first time they've ever done this. I asked her how it was working out and she said the food was coming out of the kitchen just fine but that most people weren't leaving tips. Which really sucks. Breakfast is free but you can't leave the woman a tip?
She did get a good tip from us though.

When we left we were surprised to see that the line was even longer than when we were out there. It'll be amazing if they don't run out of stuff before the 2:00 cut off.

I sure wouldn't want to be the one to tell that crowd that the free food had run out because I'm pretty sure that wouldn't go over well at all.

So it was an interesting morning, free food and some interesting people to watch. I think I'll go back if they do this again next year LOL
