Dinner at the Summer Kitchen Cafe

Last week the Island King and I were out in South Walton County waiting to do a night shoot and decided we wanted dinner.

The weather was perfect and we knew we wanted to eat outside so we started thinking about where we could go.

We were east of Seaside and having driven through there earlier we knew all of the restaurants would be packed.

So where to eat between Seaside and Panama City Beach?

I was a little surprised to find that there aren't really that many places to eat in that area.

And there are none directly on the Gulf.

There are several fine dining, make a reservation and dress nice restaurants but as far as come in your shorts, bring the kids and sit outside places? Not so many.

A friend suggested we try George's in Alys Beach so that's where we went.

George's is a very nice restaurant with a beautiful patio right on Scenic Hwy 30A.

But it already had a waiting list and we were on a time schedule so we decided to come back another day when we have more time.

On we drove and ended up at the Summer Kitchen Cafe in Rosemary Beach.

Located right across from Barrett Square, this quaint little restaurant is amazing.

They have a few tables inside but most of their seating is outside along the front of the restaurant and in a courtyard off to the side.

We were given the dinner menu and I was amazed at how delicious the entrees sounded.

It took me quite a while to decide what I wanted to try and in the end I threw any thought of eating light out the window and went for this.

The Grilled Painted Hills Ranch All Natural Grass Fed Rib Eye with
roasted garlic mashed potatoes, grilled asparagus, roasted portabellas, caramelized shallots, red wine butter

Words can't describe how good this steak was. Juicy, tender and HUGE.

The Island King went for something much lighter.

The Sauteed Blue Crab Claws with
garlic, olive oil, tomatoes, basil, scallions, crushed red pepper, toasted ciabatta bread.

His was as mouthwatering as mine.

I have found a new favorite place to eat in Rosemary Beach and will definitely go back.

There were a LOT of things on that menu that I want to try!
