A Day At Palafox Pier

We spent New Year's Eve day in Pensacola wandering around Palafox Pier.

We were there to see the Columbus ships and it was such a pretty day that after we toured the ships we spent quite a while hanging out on the pier.

There was a geocache to find and luckily we had a little person who could stick his head WAY up in the bushes to find the cache.

He was very proud of himself because rarely is he able to find caches. He'll walk all over and around one and never see it so he was quite pleased when he spotted this one.

Can you tell the Island Girl doesn't like to geocache?

I've tried to explain to her that using a multi-billion dollar satelite system to find tupperware in the bushes is really cool but she just doesn't see it.

There were several pelicans on the pier who really seemed to like all of the attention they were getting and spent their time posing for pictures.

The Youngest Island Boy earned the nickname Bird Boy

And the Oldest Island Boy watched in fascination as the ships that were docked unloaded their cargo.

It was a warm, sunny day and we enjoyed relaxing in the sun but all too soon it was time to return to Destin and prepare for the New Year's Eve festivities.

They've done an excellent job of revitalizing that area so we'll be back to explore more again soon.
